Dr. Rebecca Maybank
Veterinarian & Practice Owner
Dr. Rebecca Maybank is a 2015 graduate of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, she has made the Kootenays home, and adores the unsurpassed natural beauty of the mountains. Rebecca currently resides in Nelson with her husband, their devilish cat, Linus, and their fluffy senior pup, Frankie. She enjoys skiing, mountain biking, gardening, musical theatre, and peaceful dog walks with her canine companion.
Dr. Maybank is a member of good standing in both the College of Veterinarians of British Columbia, and the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association. While working as a small animal practitioner in Nelson she has developed strong relationships with her clients and patients. It is through these experiences that she has realized that many pet families can benefit from veterinary care in a comfortable, peaceful place that is familiar to them. It is with this motivation that she has started Maybank Mobile Veterinary services, with the hopes of bringing compassionate accessible veterinary care to our beloved Kootenay pets.
Dr. Lydia Genry
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Lydia Gentry is a 2017 graduate of Washington State University. After practicing in the Spokane, Washington area for several years, she and her family made the great decision to immigrate to the Kootenays for the vibrant artistic small community, and the laid-back mountain/lake lifestyle.
Lydia lives on a lovely acre in Salmo with her husband Simon, her son Merle, and their animal companions: the faithful dog Wanda, the rascal twin cats Dusty and Donny, and a flock of retired pet chickens. A perfect day in her life would include strong coffee, deep conversations, a leisurely horseback trail ride in the forest, and a sunset soak in the hot springs. You might also find her making colorful tie dyes, whirling precariously on a trapeze, or dancing all night long at Shambala.
Dr. Gentry is thrilled to join the magical team at Maybank Mobile Veterinary Services providing convenient, thorough and low stress care for your beloved companions. She is a member of the CVBC, the CVMA, the AVMA and is a Certified Peaceful Euthanasia Veterinarian through CAETA. To satisfy her appetite for variety and commitment to lifelong learning and skill development, she occasionally travels as a Locum Veterinarian to work in emergency clinics in the US and Vancouver, and continues to see surgical and dental patients at Selkirk Veterinary Hospital in Nelson, BC.
Dr. Karen Nasir
Locum Veterinarian
Dr. Karen Nasir is an Ontario Veterinary College graduate and originally hails from Toronto. Her experience ranges from general practice to shelter medicine to emergency and referral medicine. After working multiple years as a locum in the GTA and then as a full-time ER veterinarian, she moved to British Columbia in 2019 and has enjoyed being in Nelson ever since.
Dr. Nasir is pleased to be part of the Maybank Mobile team and is a member in good standing with both the CVBC and the CVO. Providing quality veterinary care has always been a priority throughout her career and being able to do so in the calm of the home environment is truly rewarding. Dr. Nasir looks forward to helping patients that may not do well in a traditional hospital setting, especially for her senior patients that she holds a soft spot for.
In her downtime, you are just as likely to find Dr. Nasir on a sunny or snowy outdoor adventure, as you would catch her curled up with a good book and a cup of tea.
Caroline Manton, RVT CHPT
Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinary Technician
Caroline has worked as an RVT since 2007, but has been in the industry for over 25 years. She has worked everywhere from General Practice to Emergency and ICU.
Caroline has recently completed the International Association of Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC) course to become specialized in senior pet and end of life care. As our pets age, they may need some help through their golden years, and these challenges will be managed with compassion and dignity.
Caroline graduated from the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus with honours in the Veterinary Technology program. Outside of work Caroline enjoys exploring the Kootenays with her family, cooking, traveling and photography.
Jessica Hancock
Registered Veterinary Technician
Jessica graduated from the University of Guelph Ridgetown College in Ontario in 2010. She has worked in various clinics in Southern Ontario, but moved to Trail in 2022. Even after working as an RVT for 15 years, Jessica still loves her job! She started working in veterinary medicine as a co-op student in high school, and has never looked back.
One of Jessica’s favourite aspects of veterinary medicine is educating clients. When she’s not working with Maybank Mobile, she can be found on shift with an emergency triaging and telemedicine veterinary service. Aside from a love for all animals, Jessica also loves the creativity of music and art. She is a member of the Trail Pottery Studio and enjoys taking classes whenever she can to continue to learn new artistic skills. She shares her home with her fur family of 5; Ewok, the Yorkie x Cairn terrier, Lolli, the Morkie, Penelope, the Pomeranian, and her two cats Olive and Coalby.
Jacy Soriat
Client Care and Certified Pet Loss/Bereavement Specialist
Jacy is a born and raised Kootenay gal from Salmo, BC. After graduation she moved to Kelowna to attend school for a career in the veterinary field. Once she completed her program she was eager to return to her home in the Kootenays. Jacy worked locally in general practice for several years as a veterinary assistant, receptionist, as well as practice manager.
Although she misses seeing the pets and people in person every day, she is so happy to be part of such an innovative and compassionate team. Jacy is also behind the scenes of our social media and loves when our clients are able to share photos of their furry friends!
In Jacy’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband, Stepan, and their dog, Jersey. Their days are filled with fun in the sun, fishing, playing slo pitch, and enjoying the beauty that the Kootenays has to offer. You can also almost always find her home filled with an extra foster dog or litter of kittens – she can’t resist!
Leah Nansel
Veterinary Assistant/Client Care
Leah grew up in the Slocan Valley and, after living in the Western USA for 23 years, she returned home to raise her family. With her return, she brought 11 years of experience as a veterinary assistant, and an unwavering passion for helping animals large and small, alongside their guardians. She has experience ranging from goats and horses, to chickens and pigs, to cats and dogs, and many more in between! While she loves to work with all critters, she holds a special soft spot for senior pets. She has found that senior pets highlight the most beautiful part of life – the connection between humans and their animals. She is honoured to be present in this chapter of these pets’ lives.
When not tending to clients’ critters, Leah finds herself tending her small farm, with her husband and two children. Gardening and raising goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, and humans keeps her busy, but in her free time, she finds herself enjoying a mellow kayak down the river, taking photographs, and playing trombone.
Mackenzie Anderson
Veterinary Assistant/Client Care
Mackenzie has had a passion for animals for as long as she can remember. Growing up, her love of pets led her to volunteer on farms, which sparked her lifelong dream of working in the veterinary field. Her veterinary experience began in 2021 where she worked in clinic, filling roles from kennel attendant to receptionist to veterinary assistant.
She has loved every step of her animal care journey, and is thrilled to be exploring the benefits of veterinary care in the comfort of pets’ homes. She is delighted to be a part of the Maybank team, where she can build meaningful one-on-one connections with both clients and their furry companions.
When she’s not working, Mackenzie enjoys camping, spending time with friends and family, and exploring the beautiful outdoors of the Kootenays. She shares her home with her beloved furry companions, Honey and Garth.
